Survival Project character Rig collection

Characters I rigged from Survival Project at Academy of Art University.

Spider featured as one of the main character in the show.
He required a complex cartoony rig: allowing individual eye movement and On/Off for controlling all at same time.
Body is with head and everything is attach to one part in the model. After establishing the joint system to gets limbs connected, deformers are used primarily for head deformation.

Cicada and Worm are side characters that appear momentarily in the show.
Cicada rigged as cartoony character but not requiring complexity as spider.
Worm is rigged to have cartoony movement of worm, and it will get squashed in the middle so bend deformer is used to get the right movement for it.

Bear Muscle Simulation

Bear model and Texture from TurboSquid(Christian Leitner)
I rigged and built muscle simulation using Maya muscle deformer.
Studied bear anatomically and focused on body primarily to figure out way to express heavy weight with muscle deformer.

using Simple Muscle deformer in Maya to get squash stretch of muscle and jiggle.

Face Expression animation

Face Expression Study at Academy of Art University
Model/rig: Jackie (provided by AAU)
Study on using face muscle to create face expression, and got a chance to break down the rig in the process to see how it is built.

Architecture Projects from Undergrads.

M&A

In this course we received building to fix based on code and create architectural documentation drawing with fix.

And housing drawing from same course

Center for Agriculture

Created a Agriculture center that fits to regional context and involves programs: Office, growing area, parking, market space, and barn.

Wellness Center Project

project required us to integrate programmatic elements such as Relaxation room, Sauna room, Herbal steam room, warm pool, hot pool, cold pool, mud room, and change room. We are given site at the Saco lake located at the New Hemisphere near Mount. Washington.

Children’s Museum Project

Location: Pittsburgh, PA.

Projection Design by Yoonseo(Dave) Choi

Contents by Advanced animation studio class in Carnegie Mellon University

Collaboration project with Exploded Ensemble and Activating the Body

Theme was Library of Babel and we have gathered contents from the individual projects in class.

We separated red channel and cyan to create an anaglyph effect on videos. I have used Isadora software to map and control the videos live with effects. For this minutes show, i have added variety of effects from Isadora which were dots, inversion of color, motion blur and switch between videos on each display/projectors.

Isadora Setup for main videos

I have set keys to switch videos between 6 sides total and effects of dots on each panel. There is also motion blur and inversion on whole videos. These effects were applied in live. I was switching and applying effects following the music that were played at the scene.

Media diagram

Due to our MacPro(Trash can) only able to output 3 displays. I was forced to use two projectors on the main media hub and separate sub laptop for third projector.
We had one live input from another laptop.
It was for content with live motion capture in blender which moves the character in the video.
We used black magic to get live feed screen from the computer and made input for Isadora.

Circle Automaton

Modeled and Rigged
Attempt on mimicking physics with only joints system with node editor.
It uses distance between joints on circle plates with bumpers at bottom for each joint group.
